"Imagine you are woken up in the middle of the night by the loud knock on your door. Has something happened? Has your neighbor got sick? Is it some sort of an emergency? That's what you and I would think. Not so with the women whose unfortunate, painful and unbelievable stories are featured in this book. When woken up in the middle of the night back in the Soviet Russia of the 1930s, they knew..." Read more here
"I had never heard of this author or this book until a friend of mine had said that she was considering doing her graduate school thesis on this book.  Since she and I have very similar taste in many things, I thought the book might be something I would enjoy.  I decided that I should read it too, so she and I could discuss it something like a one-time only book club.  I put off getting it until I found it in a used book store in downtown New Orleans.  I am so glad that I could finally find the time to read it.  It was so thrilling that I read it in less time than I usually spend on books!!..." The story of Sergei Tretyakov's escape from the Post-Soviet Russia's KGB and the country's newly appointed "pro-democratic rulers" with their recently charted barbaric guidelines and gluttonous priorities to steal anything anywhere and at any cost keeps the reader in suspense until the very last page is turned...."

"Traveling is a wonderful experience. It is exciting and exhilarating, and a person will always learn a lot about not only the place and people he is visiting but also about himself.  Living abroad is also an amazing experience, something not everyone can do or may ever get the chance to if he wants to.  But if someone has the opportunity to live abroad, I would recommend doing it, no matter what the challenges are and no matter what the sacrifices might be.  It is usually a once in a lifetime experience and something that will help a person grow and learn in ways that he may never expect.  Sometimes the challenges can be unfortunately overwhelming and sometimes even insurmountable...."
